Pittsburgh's Sustainability Officers: Connecting regionally to contribute globally

A growing number of businesses around the world and here in southwestern Pennsylvania have appointed Sustainability Officers/Coordinators. There are already 72 such personnel from leading companies in our region who meet regularly as convened by C4S. This Sustainability Coordinator affinity group is proving highly valuable to these businesses as their personnel strive to advance their knowledge, highlight achievements, and learn from others toward implementing best emerging practices for sustainable business solutions.

C4S provides regular networking Western Pennsylvania's Sustainability Officers/Coordinators. These workshops are offered every 8 weeks. The purposes of the workshops are to:

• Facilitate this unique set of professionals to determine their own agenda and grow and develop as they see fit
• Provide an opportunity for sustainability coordinators in the region to learn what others in similar roles are doing in other companies and organizations
• Take the pulse of what sustainability coordinators need in terms of their newly evolving roles and help bring resources in response
• Provide a spotlighting opportunity for innovative activities and opportunities relevant to sustainability coordinator initiatives
• Create a space for helpful conversations related to the evolving field of sustainability in organizations
• Engage this unique cadre in the region's sustainability-related problem solving activities
