CASE STUDIES & BEST PRACTICES

Several of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s businesses and organizations have shown their leadership through actions which have saved them significant costs, improved their performance, and have gained well-deserved recognition. These leading businesses have agreed to be featured as case studies.

The following links summarize what these leading businesses presented at the “Business Leadership in Managing Energy Usage,” workshop held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010:

The event was organized by the Business Climate Coalition, a program of Sustainable Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Climate Initiative.  A report from this workshop can be found here.

Businesses that track and report their energy usage:

  • Demonstrate their commitment to sustainability
  • Save money by saving energy
  • Improve transparency
  • Qualify for incentive programs
  • Are able to set well-defined goals
  • Reduce legal risk due to a changing regulatory environment
  • Build market share
  • Take action that illustrates their commitment to best management practices

If your business has implemented energy conservation programs, undergone an energy audit, and/or other innovative project to reduce your GHG emissions and you would like to be highlighted, please contact us.

The BCC expresses its gratitude to Jacob Baechle, SCA Fellow and Sustainable Pittsburgh BCC Coordinator for his efforts to create these case studies.
